Polyphobia is defined as an abnormal fear of many things; a condition marked by the presence of many phobias. Polyphobia is the inspiration for this project.
About This Project
Polyphobia is a 3rd person platformer that takes place in the strange dream world of a young boy. Players will take on the role of Jimmy Jones, a 6 year-old boy that has experienced a traumatizing event in his recent past. This event that he can no longer recall has triggered the development of numerous phobias that haunt Jimmy every night in his dreams. Now, using the power of lucid dreaming, Jimmy must enter dream state in order to battle his fears, conquer them, and ultimately recall the event that triggered his polyphobia. Players must accompany Jimmy, his talking slippers, and stuffed bear through the numerous phobia based levels.
This video describes the conceptual background to the game, and introduces you to the different levels that you, the player, will explore and navigate. It was created by the development team as our submission to the AltDev Student Summit, where we placed in the top six internationally.
